Doma United FC have emerged as the first club to secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League from the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League this season, following an impressive run in Conference C.
The Gombe-based side, who were relegated from the top flight two years ago, amassed 26 points from 13 matches. Their campaign saw them score 17 goals while conceding just 8, underlining both attacking efficiency and defensive solidity.
Doma United’s path to promotion included seven home victories, one away win, and two away draws, with only three away defeats recorded throughout the campaign.
Their return to the NPFL marks a swift comeback to Nigeria’s elite division, highlighting a well-executed rebuild since their earlier relegation.
Meanwhile, Gombe United FC, who were relegated alongside Doma United in the 2023/24 season, appear unlikely to secure an immediate return, suggesting a longer stay in the lower tier.
