Alani’s Late Spot Kick Seals win for Nasarawa Amazons Over Remo Stars Ladies

Nasarawa Amazons secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Remo Stars Ladies in their Matchday 14 clash of the NWFL26, played at the Lafia City Stadium.

The decisive moment came late in the game when Alani Jumoke calmly converted an 87th-minute penalty, securing all three points for the Lafia Landladies and moving them up to second place in Group B.

Nasarawa Amazons demonstrating early intent through high pressing and attacking play. Key players such as Adesoji Esther, Abdulwahaab Faridat, and Igbokwe Joy exhibited great energy and determination, thrilling the home fans with an entertaining pertormance.

Despite the hosts’ dominance, both sides remained resolute defensively, and the first half ended goalless after a fiercely contested 45 minutes.

The second half saw increased intensity from Nasarawa Amazons, who continued to push forward in search of a breakthrough.

Tactical substitutions, including the introduction of Moses Farikikyen and Okah Adaobi, injected fresh energy into the attack.

The breakthrough finally came in the 87th minute when a handball inside the penalty area led to a spot-kick for the hosts.

Alani Jumoke stepped up and confidently slotted the ball home, giving Nasarawa Amazons a deserved lead.

The goal proved to be the winner, securing maximum points for the Amazons in front of their home supporters.

Speaking after the match, Head Coach Christopher Danjuma acknowledged his team’s efforts while noting areas for improvement: “We are working hard to improve, especially in converting our chances from open play.

It hasn’t been easy, particularly with some key attackers unavailable, but the team showed resilience today.

By God’s grace, we will do better in our next game against Osun Babes.”

He also praised his counterpart:

“I respect Coach Wemimo; she is a colleague from the national team, and we have worked together.”

Matchday 15 fixture, where they will travel to lle-Ogbo, Osun State, to face Osun Babes FC.
