The 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) season kicks off this Friday with a standout opening fixture between Flight FC and NYSC FC. The match will also mark a significant step forward for the league, as it will be live-streamed via a newly launched website powered by AI camera technology.
Excitement is building among fans following the release of the full group fixtures, with many eager to see how the season unfolds.
NLO Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Olushola Ogunnowo, expressed optimism ahead of the kickoff.
“We are delighted to begin the season this Friday at McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi, Benue State,” he said.
“The opening match between Flight FC and NYSC FC is expected to be highly competitive and will showcase the unique style of football in the NLO.
“The first game is set for Friday, April 10, 2026, while the rest of the fixtures will commence the following weekend.
“The schedule, aligned with the Stadium League format, is designed to allow adequate rest for players and ensure better preparation for each matchday.
“Although it may not please everyone, our decision to determine group winners through a single-leg playoff reflects our commitment to fairness and transparency.”
