The race to avoid relegation in the Nigerian league has taken a dramatic turn, with struggling teams showing renewed determination as the season approaches its climax.
In Yenagoa, Wikki Tourists delivered one of the biggest upsets of the matchday, defeating Bayelsa United on their home turf.
With Bayelsa desperate for points, Wikki rose to the occasion, putting in a spirited performance that stunned the hosts.
The decisive moment came in the 67th minute when Imamu Bala found the net, securing a vital win and deepening Bayelsa’s struggles.
Elsewhere, Kun Khalifat FC proved they are far from finished in the survival race with an impressive victory over Warri Wolves.
Mmesoma Nnorom opened the scoring in the 19th minute, before a late brace from Uchechukwu Onuaha sealed a crucial win for the hosts.
In Kano, Barau FC boosted their continental ambitions with a hard-fought 2-1 comeback win. After conceding to Hadi Haruna in the 63rd minute, Barau responded through Joseph Atule and Joseph Kemim, whose late strike secured all three points.
At the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Shooting Stars SC pushed hard for victory, but Kwara United held firm to earn a valuable draw, showcasing defensive discipline throughout the encounter.
In Lagos, Ikorodu City FC bounced back emphatically with a 3-0 win over Kano Pillars. Joseph Arumala opened the scoring in the 29th minute, before Tosin Oyedokun and Abayomi Ayodeji added further goals to seal a dominant performance.
A similar result was recorded by Enyimba FC, who cruised to a 3-0 victory over Katsina United. Goals from Stanley Dimgba, Chidera Michael, and Wonah Ebah ensured a comfortable win, lifting Enyimba up the standings.
At the top of the table, Rivers United maintained their grip on first place with a narrow 1-0 victory over Plateau United.
An early strike from Wisdom Samuel in the 11th minute proved decisive. Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes were held to a draw by Enugu Rangers.
Earlier, Bendel Insurance edged Abia Warriors 1-0 despite the absence of suspended coach Kennedy Boboye, capping off an action-packed Matchday 34.
