The Scouts of Nigeria, under the leadership of Chief Commissioner Dr. Zack Ekanola,on Sunday have joined the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day, honoring the achievements, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women across society.
Dr. Ekanola emphasized that, “For Scouts, empowering women is not just a matter of fairness—it is a vital step toward building stronger communities, fostering peace, and advancing national progress.”
The Chief Commissioner highlighted the critical role women play within the Scouting Movement, serving as leaders, mentors, educators, and role models. Their dedication to service, youth development, and leadership strengthens the movement and inspires young people to embrace values of integrity, courage, and responsibility.
Scouts worldwide have long championed equal opportunities for girls and women, recognizing their essential contributions to building stronger communities and a better world. In Nigeria, women Scouts continue to play a pivotal role in youth empowerment and community development.
Dr. Ekanola further called on society to acknowledge the achievements of women, support their aspirations, and create environments where every girl and woman can thrive. On behalf of the leadership of The Scout Association of Nigeria, he extended appreciation to all women Scouts and community leaders whose vision, strength, and dedication inspire the nation.
The Scouts of Nigeria reaffirmed their commitment to promoting inclusiveness, respect, and equal opportunities for every individual as they join the world in celebrating International Women’s Day 2026.
