Following their victory against Ikorodu City FC on Matchday 29 of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season at the Lafia City Stadium, players of Nasarawa United FC were rewarded with a cash sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦500,000) by the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Kwanta Yakubu.
Kwanta, who watched the match alongside top government officials including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaac Danladi, and the Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, David Moyi, presented the cash to the team’s Technical Adviser, Mangut Mbwas, shortly after the game.
He explained that the gesture was meant to boost the team’s morale and encourage them to sustain their winning momentum in upcoming matches.
Coach Mbwas expressed the team’s appreciation to the Commissioner and assured the state of improved performances in subsequent games.
An 83rd-minute free-kick from defensive midfielder Bright Amadi secured all three points for Nasarawa United, strengthening their title push. The victory lifted them to third place on the league table with 47 points, two points ahead of Ikorodu City, who dropped to fifth position.
Nasarawa United will next travel to Ikenne, Ogun State, to face Remo Stars FC at the Remo Stars Stadium on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 4:00 pm.
