Sport Integrity Foundation (SIF) has hailed the board and management of the Nationwide League One (NLO) for its commitment to ensuring and implementing safety protocols for the largest grassroots league in Nigeria.
Sport Integrity Foundation has observed with keen interest, the professionalism and commitment with which the NLO operates, especially in the area of sporting integrity and safety protocols, which to the organisation deserves commendation.
SIF secretary Godwin Dele notes that the NLO has set professional standards in the country that should be emulated by other league organisers; “We’re very impressed with what the NLO is doing with the management of what is known as the largest league in Nigeria in terms of number of players and participating teams, and more importantly how the NLO has made safety protocols and integrity the core foundation of it’s operation.
“One of such thing is the one month long Pre-competition medical assessment exercise of the new NLO season. Health and safety are very important aspects of sports organisation, and we’ve seen the way the NLO have gone about this, it is well structured.
“Last season we also observed the league on football terms both on and off the pitch, how they made sure no team gained any sporting advantage over the others and, safety and security, and their seriousness to the overall integrity of the league is highly commendable,” Dele said.
He noted that SIF will continue to observe and partner sporting organisations like the NLO that have shown real commitment to sport integrity and development of Nigerian youths.
