Two historic Nigerian clubs, Mighty Jets of Jos and City FC Abuja, have been relegated to NLO 1 following a poor run of form in Conference C of the league season.
Both teams endured a difficult campaign, at the ongoing 2025/2026 NNL , finishing at the bottom of the table with just 16 points each after 14 matches.
Their struggles throughout the season ultimately sealed their fate, as they failed to secure enough victories to climb out of the relegation zone.
Mighty Jets, once a prominent name in Nigerian football, were unable to rediscover their form, dropping crucial points both at home and away.
Similarly, City FC Abuja, representing the nation’s capital, showed flashes of promise but lacked the consistency needed to compete effectively in the conference.
The relegation marks a significant setback for both clubs, who will now compete in NLO 1 next season.
Management and supporters alike will be hoping for a swift rebuild and a stronger performance to secure promotion back to higher-tier football.
As the season concludes, attention now turns to restructuring and strengthening the squads, with both teams aiming to bounce back quickly from this disappointing outcome.
