Nigeria Secures Double Triumph at IHF Trophy Zone 3

Nigeria’s youth handball teams delivered an outstanding performance at the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase in Lomé, Togo, claiming titles in both the Under-18 and Under-20 categories.

The Under-18 team demonstrated exceptional skill and control in their final match, overpowering Ivory Coast with a convincing 32–19 victory.

From the opening whistle, the Nigerian side dominated play, showcasing tactical discipline and reinforcing their status as a rising force in African youth handball.

In the Under-20 category, Nigeria continued their impressive run, defeating Benin Republic 39–29 in another commanding final.

Their attacking efficiency and well-organised gameplay ensured a comfortable win, completing a remarkable double for the country.

By securing both titles, Nigeria’s Under-18 and Under-20 teams have emerged as champions of the regional tournament and earned qualification for the continental stage, where they will compete against top teams from across Africa.

This double achievement underscores Nigeria’s growing strength in handball and reflects sustained efforts in grassroots development, in line with the vision of the National Sports Commission.
