Team Nigeria closed out the African Open Para-Powerlifting Championships in Oran, Algeria, with a dominant haul of 13 medals—7 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze—after adding two gold and one silver on the final day of individual events, while also setting new African and World records.
The gold medals came from Anifat Ganiyu in the 41kg, Ajiboye Rukayat in the 50kg, Ani Chiamaka in the 73kg, Ferdinard Rita in the 79kg, Mark Onyinyechi Gift in the 67kg.
Ogundolie Tolulope in the 45kg, and Folashade Oluwafemiayo in the +86kg categories.
Nigeria’s silver medals were won by Nworgu Esther (50kg), Oyema Esther (55kg), and Anigbogu Chikordi Franka (61kg), while bronze went to Riluwan Idris Sabo (88kg), Dauda Ibrahim Ajibola (59kg), and Ezuruike Roland (54kg).
