The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has appointed former Nigerian international Jonah Adamu as the supervising head coach of its men’s and women’s volleyball teams.

The Head of Sports at the NCS, Samuel Onikeku, announced the appointment following the team’s friendly match against the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) on Wednesday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Onikeku also announced the appointment of All African Games gold medallist in indoor and beach volleyball, Priscilla Agera, as the supervising coach for the women’s team.

According to Onikeku, Adamu will oversee both teams, with primary responsibility for the men’s side during matches. He may also be assigned to supervise the women’s team when necessary.

“Former Nigerian international Jonah Adamu has been appointed as the supervising coach of the men’s and women’s teams.

“He will handle the men’s team during matches and can be drafted to oversee the women’s team whenever the occasion arises, as he is supervising both teams,” Onikeku said.

He added that Agera would supervise the women’s newly appointed coaching crew, comprising Francisca Ikhiede, Bose Melaye and Tosin Bukky, who recently acquired the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Level I coaching certification.

Onikeku further disclosed that the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Dr Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, had made significant investments in the teams as they intensify preparations for the second phase of the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League.

The second phase of the competition is scheduled to serve off on October 16 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
