Edo State governor His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, today received Edo Queens the champions of the just concluded CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers held in Ouagadougou Burkina Faso.
Addressing the players at the Festival Hall of Government House Benin City, the governor poured encomiums on the entire team for making Edo State and Nigeria proud.
“I want to commend you girls for your victorious outting in Burkina Faso. You have made Edo State and Nigeria proud. I congratulate us all. The reason why you went to war is for you to gain victory, and you went to war and conquered, that is why we are all celebrating you today.”
“When you played Ghana first,
your Chairman refused to tell you girls that I said you will beat Ghana again. If you had beaten Ghana first, they would have defeat you at the final. Your first defeat to Ghana was a blessing in disguise.”
“For making Edo State proud I’m rewarding you people with the sum of Fifty million (#50million).

Meanwhile, Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission Hon. Amadin Enabulele, commended the governor for for his support, saying that the successes of Edo Queens won’t have been made possible without the governor’s support.
He maintained that preparations for the CAF Women’s Champions League proper have to commence immediately.
He also commended the APC chairman Chief Jarrett Tenebe , for being there for the team.
The players also thanked the governor for his magnanimity.
