The inaugural Haniel Hadison and Friends Men/Ladies PSA Satellite Tournament in Abuja concluded in thrilling fashion, delivering high-quality squash and dramatic finals in both categories.
Organized by the Vice President of the Nigeria Squash Federation, Haniel Hadison, the event brought together some of the country’s top talents, all competing for honours, medals, and prize money.
In the women’s final, Monsural Durosinlorun of Kwara produced a remarkable comeback to overcome Ogun State’s Awawu Balogun in a gripping five-set encounter. Balogun appeared in control early on, taking the first two games convincingly at 11–3 and 11–7.
However, Durosinlorun demonstrated resilience and tactical discipline, turning the tide by dominating the next three games 11–4, 11–9, and 11–7 to clinch a hard-fought 3–2 victory.
The men’s final also lived up to expectations, with Yusuf Quadri of Lagos delivering a commanding performance to defeat Femi Shedara of Edo 3–1.
Shedara drew first blood, capturing the opening game 11–6, but Quadri responded emphatically, asserting control with aggressive shot-making and court coverage to take the next three games 11–4, 11–6, and 11–7, sealing the title in style.
The tournament marked a significant milestone for squash development in Nigeria, highlighting emerging talents and reinforcing the sport’s growing competitive depth.
Winners and participants were rewarded with medals and prize money, capping off a successful maiden edition that promises to become a key fixture on the local squash calendar.
