Morocco’s World Cup journey has come to an end. The Atlas Lions, the last African team standing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, fell 0-2 to France in full-time.
It was a tough night for the North Africans. Their passing lacked accuracy and they failed to convert the few chances that came their way against a clinical French side.
For the second consecutive FIFA World Cup, France have ended Morocco’s remarkable run, securing a 2-0 victory to book their place in the final four.
Goals from Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé sealed the win as Les Bleus continued their march towards another World Cup title.
With Morocco’s exit, Africa’s campaign at the 2026 World Cup is over. It’s a reminder that we still have a lot of work to do. But the hope remains — Africa will regroup, learn, and come back stronger at the next World Cup.
