Tobi Amusan produced a sensational performance to win Heat 1 of the women’s 100m hurdles in 12.19s (+3.8m/s), the fastest time ever run at the Commonwealth Games under any conditions.

Although the time will not count as a Games record because of the excessive tailwind, Amusan was in complete control, finishing ahead of South Africa’s Marione Fourie, who clocked 12.50s, and Jamaica’s Kerrica Hill in 12.69s.

Amusan will return for the final later tonight as she continues her push for Commonwealth Games gold.
