Excitement is building across Jos City as the 17th edition of the GForce Peace and Unity Football Competition enters the semifinal stage.
Themed “The Time Is Now Grassroot Tournament,” it has attracted over 50 teams at the start. For the past three weeks, Saint Georges Primary School field and Mazaram Top football field rayfield , Jos south,have hosted intense matches, and the final four teams have now emerged.
Ahead of the semifinal fixtures this weekend, the tournament organizer, Moses Taper, popularly known as GForce, alongside his Local Organizing Committee, presented brand new jerseys to the semifinalists.
Speaking during the jersey presentation, Taper described the gesture as “one of the surprise packages for the semifinalists in this year’s edition.”
“I specially want to thank the ADC for his excellence, Barrister Caleb Muftwang, for his tremendous support in this tournament from the start to now, and hopefully till the final. The support is something I really appreciate.”
He also urged the teams to maintain discipline and to wear the jerseys during the last four matches.
Reacting to the gesture, Mr. Anas Abdullahi, owner of Oil Money FC, said, “I have never attended a football competition where jerseys were given free to teams. We promise to get to the final.”
Also speaking, Emmanuel Bala, owner and coach of Anglo United, expressed excitement, saying, “With these new jerseys, the final for my team is assured.”
The competition continues this weekend, as Galactico FC takes on Oil Money on Saturday, September 5th, while Anglo United will be up against Samba Boys on Sunday, September 6th, 2026.
