NDCCITMA holds Economic summit in Port Harcourt.

Port Harcourt, Sept. 12, 2026(NAN) The Niger Delta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture(NDCCITMA) says it has commenced efforts towards repositioning the region for competitive economic development and expansion.

NDCCITMA disclosed this on Saturday in Port Harcourt while briefing newsmen on preparedness to host the ‘Niger Delta economic and investment summit’.

The summit scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt from Sept. 15  to Sept 17, 2026  is titled ‘Driving Investment, Innovation and Industrial growth in the Niger Delta.

According to Idaere Ogan, NDCCITMA Board Chairman, the summit is organized by the chambers in partnership with NDDC.

Highlighting on benefits, Idaere said that the summit would bring to limelight a wide range of other business opportunities that existed alongside the oil and gas economy.

“For decades, the Niger Delta region has played a critical role in the oil and gas economy of our country.

“Aside oil and gas which the region is primarily known for, it also possesses other viable potentials, including the agro-allied based industry, maritime, transportation, renewable energy,  gas, logistics among others,”he said.

Ogan further revealed that the summit has been designed to showcase strategic investment opportunities by providing a plaftform for investors, government and the private sector to brainstorm on scaling up the manufacturing sector across the region.

“Our primary motive is to showcase strategic investment opportunities capable of strenghtening regional economy.

“We are committed to transforming the region from a predominantly resource dependant economy to a diversified, productive, industrialized and globally compititive region.

“Rather than viewing each state as an isolated economic market, we must begin to build regional value chains, business corridors, shared infrastructure and investment platforms that would stengthen of the region,” he added.
