Today, March 16, Barau Football Club paid a courtesy visit to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, to engage youths in the fight against drug abuse.
The Kano State Commandant of the NDLEA, CN Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal, received the delegation at the agency’s office.
The delegation was led by the Club’s General Manager, Dominic Iorfa, alongside the Vice President, Kabiru Baita, and Khalifa Rabiu, who represented the Club President. Coaches, officials and players, were also part of the visit.
Speaking during the visit, the General Manager, Dominic Iorfa, commended the NDLEA for hosting the club and described the command as a symbolic institution in the fight against drug abuse in society.
He noted that the club would continue to provide a platform for the State Commandant to engage with the team and supporters during matchdays, including facilitating access to matches through ticket support for NDLEA representatives.
Iorfa also led the club in donating three newly branded jerseys and footballs to the NDLEA, while reaffirming Barau FC’s commitment to working hand in hand with the agency in the campaign against drug abuse.
In his remarks, the NDLEA Kano State Commandant, CN Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal, appreciated the Grand Patron of Barau FC, Senator Barau Jibrin, for his dedication to promoting sports across the state and the country.
He further announced that the NDLEA had partnered with Barau FC to strengthen youth engagement, awareness campaigns, and collective efforts in combating drug abuse.
The Club’s Vice President, Kabiru Baita, also expressed appreciation to the NDLEA for hosting the team.
Members of the delegation included the Club Technical Adviser, Eugene Agagbe; Assistant Coach, Rabiu Tata; Goalkeepers’ Coaches, Dahiru Dalhatu and Babangida Muhd; Physical Trainer, Sirajo Mukhtar; Club Secretary, Abubakar Jibrin; members of the club’s media department; and drivers.
Also, NDLEA Commandant Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal presented an award to the grand patron of the club, His Excellency, Sen. Jibrin I. Barau for promoting sport activities in kano and Nigeria especially football.
