Nigeria’s representatives, Nigeria Customs Service Volleyball Team and Vipers Volleyball Club, delivered commanding performances on Tuesday at the ongoing 2026 CAVB Zone 3 Volleyball Club Championship in Ghana.
In the women’s category, Nigeria Customs Service began their campaign on a strong note, defeating Ghana Immigration Volleyball Club 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-20) in their opening match.
The reigning Comptroller General of Customs (CGC )Volleyball Premier League champions also recorded a dominant 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-8) win against AS Douanes VC of Burkina Faso.
2025 National Division 1 champions Vipers VC were equally impressive, cruising to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) win against Dynamic VC of Benin Republic.
They maintained their momentum with another straight-sets triumph, defeating Sonabel VC of Burkina Faso 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-20).
In the men’s competition, Nigeria Customs Service extended their winning streak with a convincing 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-17) victory over All Stars VC of Benin Republic.
Speaking after the matches, Vipers VC Team Manager, Jabar Suraj Abiodun, praised his players for their commitment and strong start to the tournament.
He assured that the team remains focused on securing the championship title.
Vipers captain Esther Mbah also commended the club’s management for facilitating the team’s participation at the regional championship, noting that the competition would serve as vital preparation ahead of the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League.
Meanwhile, the Sports Director of the Nigeria Customs Service, Samuel Onikeku, expressed satisfaction with the performances of the country’s representatives.
He attributed the success to the consistent investment and support from the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the service’s management.
Onikeku emphasized that the players’ motivation and welfare before, during, and after tournaments have contributed significantly to their achievements, adding that the ultimate goal is to return home with the trophy, just as they did in Ghana during the 2025 Super Cup.
