This year’s FA Community Shield will be staged at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, marking a temporary departure from its traditional home at Wembley Stadium.
The venue change is due to a scheduling conflict, as Wembley is set to host a concert by global music star The Weeknd, whose tour dates coincide with the customary fixture weekend.
The Community Shield, contested annually between the Premier League champions and the FA Cup winners, traditionally serves as the curtain-raiser to the English football season.
The switch represents a rare relocation for one of the game’s longstanding fixtures, with the Principality Stadium stepping in to host the season-opening encounter.
