Erastus Awortu rallies support for Nwogu ahead of Saturday’s by-election
Andoni (Rivers), June 17, 2026- Chief Erastus Awortu, a major political stakeholder in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers and the area’s former local council Chairman on Wednesday rallied support for Sen. Olaka Nwogu ahead of Saturday’s by-election.
The Rivers State politician also emphasized the need for participatory democracy as Nigeria coasts towards 2027 general elections.
Awortu during the ward rally led party faithfuls in his ward (Ward 9, Asarama, Andoni) to a massive voter sensitisation and campaign towards Nwogu’s victory at the poll.
Nwogu is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the forthcoming by-election.
Meanwhile, participants at the rally have commended Awortu for advancing grassroots leadership while also pledging commitment to democratic processes and guidlines.
Awortu however, emphasized the importance of unity, grassroots mobilization, and sustained support for credible leadership.
According to him, sustained support for responsible leaders is vital in advancement of the Senatorial zone.
“Together, we stand united as we also strive for progress, effective representation, and a brighter future for Rivers South-East Senatorial District.”he said.
The well-attended rally which brought together community leaders, political stakeholders, youths, women, and party faithfuls highlights the enthusiasm and readiness of the people to actively participate in the election.
