The President of the Nigeria Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports, and Dance (NAPHER-SD), Professor Florence Bola Adeyanju, on behalf of the National Executive Members and the entire NAPHER-SD community, heartily congratulates Team Nigeria on its remarkable performance at the just-concluded 2026 Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
The impressive achievements recorded by our athletes have once again demonstrated the resilience, talent, discipline, and determination that define the Nigerian spirit. Their outstanding performances have brought honour to our nation, inspired millions of young Nigerians, and reaffirmed Nigeria’s position as a formidable force in international sports.
NAPHER-SD also expresses profound appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his administration’s commitment to the development of sports through the provision of the necessary support, resources, and enabling environment that empowered Team Nigeria. This commitment has contributed significantly to the nation’s outstanding performance and reflects the government’s commitment to youth development, national unity, and sporting excellence.
We also applaud the leadership and unwavering commitment of the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Director General of the National Sports Commission, whose dedication, strategic direction, and steadfast support played significant roles in Team Nigeria’s success. Their collective efforts toward repositioning the nation’s sports sector, strengthening athlete development programmes, improving sports administration, and creating an enabling environment for sporting excellence are yielding commendable results.
We also salute the coaches, technical officials, sports administrators, medical personnel, and every member of Team Nigeria whose sacrifices, professionalism, and teamwork contributed immensely to this historic outing. Their collective efforts have once again showcased the immense potential of Nigerian sports on the global stage.
As an association committed to the promotion of Physical Education, Sports, Recreation, and Dance, NAPHER-SD remains confident that the drive towards sustainable sports development by the National Sports Commission will continue to produce world-class athletes and strengthen Nigeria’s sporting future.
We encourage all stakeholders to sustain this momentum by investing in grassroots sports development, school sports, coaching education, sports science, and athlete welfare, as these remain the bedrock of enduring sporting success.
Once again, we congratulate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Team Nigeria, the National Sports Commission, and every Nigerian whose contributions made this achievement possible. We celebrate this moment of national pride and look forward to even greater accomplishments in future international competitions.
