Port Harcourt, April 24, 2026- ‘Utono Obolo Worldwide’, a socio-cultural organization in Rivers has condemned the gruesome murder of a youth in Ikuru Town, Andoni LGA of the state.
The incident which had since thrown the community into mourning and fear has been linked to an alleged confrontation between OSPAC (local vigilante) and some youths of the community.
Dr Romsan Dressman, the group’s Administrator-General in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Port Harcourt called for decisive steps towards tackling growing insecurity in the once peaceful area.
Dressman noted with dismay, deepening security challenges amidst unresolved internal wranglings across communities and urged parties to always explore dialogue in conflict management.
“We condemn the escalation of violence which led to this tragic development, the loss of a life in this manner is a painful tragedy that must not be allowed to continue.
“As much as we commensorate with the deceased family and those affected by this unfortunate incident we advice against all forms of retaliation regardless of underlying grievances.
“We also believe that dialogue, respect for human life, and adherence to the rule of law are better options in crisis management.
“As a concerned group, we urge stakeholders and the security agencies to strive towards restoring peace in our communities ,’ Dressman said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Hon. Lucky Otuo also condemned the incident discribing it as unfortunate.
Otuo in a swift reaction declared a dusk to dawn curfew on Ikuru Town and immediate disbandment of OSPAC in the area council.
